Coconut Oil

Let’s talk about my favorite oil on the planet. I am writing this blog inspired by the fact that in 2 weeks’ summer break starts and that means getting a lot of sun. So because coconut oil is my sunscreen of choice I want to talk about the diverse and amazing benefits you can receive by eating and putting this amazing oil on your skin.

Nature’s Sunscreen:

So in the world of sunscreen most of them, even the natural ones, are very toxic. Most sunscreens block out the beneficial UV rays that produce vitamin d. So what can we do?

  • Before going out into the sun we can apply a healthy dose of coconut oil.
  • Coconut oil has a natural spf of 4 and allows a decent sun protection for about an hour.
  • Coconut oil moisturizes the skin and feels amazing.
  • Using coconut oil still provides the body with the ability to produce vitamin d.
  • Coconut oil helps with the bronzing of the skin safely and naturally.

Hair Care:

Coconut oil can dramatically help heal and grow the hair. Not only does it make your hair have a healthy shine but it also helps in reducing protein loss in the scalp. When this protein loss has stopped the sheen and shine will come back to your hair.

  • Coconut oil hair treatments are used in India to condition and repair the hair.
  • Coconut oil is a great anti-fungal making it the perfect treatment for treating dandruff.
  • It helps to heal a dry scalp.
  • It can also keep your hair protected by lice and lice eggs.

Immune Care:

Coconut oil contains lauric acid this beneficial acid can boost your immune system and help the body overcome some serious infections.

  • The only other place in nature that lauric acid exists is mothers breast milk.
  • Lauric acid is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral.
  • Coconut oil also contains saturated fats that help to coat the stomach improving the digestion and elimination systems of our body.
  • When your digestions improved your whole body will feel lighter and better overall.

Hormonal Health:

  • Coconut oil improves your hormonal profile in a couple unique ways.
  • Coconut oil has been shown to stimulate the thyroid and has natural pregnenolone a precursor to progesterone that is a great balance of hormones.
  • Coconut oils saturated fat helps you coat and build healthy hormones.

Oil Pulling:

This ancient practice comes from the ayurvedic tradition of Indian medicine. This practice can radically change your oral health.

  • Taking a teaspoon and half of coconut oil with a 4th teaspoon of baking soda and swish in your mouth first thing in the morning for 20min then spit. Don’t eat or drink anything for at least 30 min after you performed this.
