Defeating Stress

I am bombarded with stress on a daily basis due to the stress of two jobs and four children. I have to find my daily Zen, and I want to show you how you can as well. I have spent the larger part of two years really researching and gaining a huge understanding of how to combat stress. It is my belief that multiple conditions in the body are related to stress and how we handle it. In my own health journey, I have suffered PTSD and a brain injury at 14 years old that created debilitating conditions in my body including Turrets syndrome and type 2 diabetes. My little teenage body couldn’t handle such unbelievable stress, and it manifested in my body through these conditions. You may be wondering how this is possible, and it’s very simple. If you are holding on to internal stress every biochemical process is overtaxed and not working properly. I have worked with people who manifest hives or heart palpitations that are directly related to a stressful event, and not because they are lacking a vitamin or mineral. Let’s explore some ways to combat stress and get healthier and stronger.

Prayer and Support Groups

The single most important aspect in my recovery to overcome serious stress conditions was having a group of people to pray with and to share with what happened to me with no judgement. I have a great church family and sharing with them set me free so much. If there is a burden on your body that has happened due to a trauma in your life, I want to encourage you to reach out to your local church or a group of people that love you to share.

  • Sharing helped me leave a dark place and brought me to a light place, and helped me overcome the disability that was manifesting in my body.
  • Prayer and faith helped me believe that I would be able to overcome these conditions overtime.
  • I want to encourage you to reach out and let go of your stresses.

Chiropractic Care and Massage

Since I had so much trauma in my physical body it was very important to deal with that as well. I had a great chiropractor that would adjust my body to help it come back in alignment. Through this, I was able to let go of some of the trauma that I was holding on to.

  • Chiropractic work helped me in so many ways, from improved brain function, boosting my immune system, and increasing my sense of wellbeing.
  • Massage has the same effect of helping you release physical and emotional traumas while improving the bodies healing.

Supplements

Magnesium was the main and most important supplement for me to overcome stress.

  • Magnesium helps relax the body and mind.
  • Magnesium helps to regulate bowel function which is directly tied to your mood.
  • Magnesium helps the heart regulate blood flow and increases oxygen in the body.
  • Magnesium is nerve food - feeding the nerves helps them function optimally.

I hope I have encouraged you to take a step towards optimal health and wellness. We need to overcome stress to increase our wellbeing. Stay tuned for the next blog, where we will explore how to overcome conditions like ADD and ADHD.
