My team at Smile Ranch and I are excited to announce accreditation by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. I was honored to receive the award at the September 2015 IAOMT meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. Accreditation through the Academy certifies to the professional community and to the general public that doctors have been trained and tested in the comprehensive application of biocompatible therapies in dentistry, including current methods for safe removal of dental amalgam.
IAOMT accreditation requires a commitment to furthering one’s training beyond dental school and demonstrates a desire to learn about a biological approach to dentistry and implement those concepts into practice. Patients can have peace of mind that I appreciate the oral-systemic connection, and follow strict protocols when removing mercury amalgam fillings from my patients’ mouths.
To become accredited through the IAOMT, I have completed the Fundamentals of Biological Dentistry course, and have taken written exams of the six core curriculum courses and IAOMT Standards of Care. I also maintained an active IAOMT membership, attended meetings, and underwent an oral interview and case presentation of an amalgam replacement case.
