I hope that the title got your attention. Inflammaging is a new buzz word in the health community that actually has a lot of truth to it. Inflammation can cause us to age and can cause disease to set on very quickly in the body. So today let’s explore what inflammation is, both the good and the bad kinds. We are going to discuss ways to reduce it in our lives and it's not all about taking supplements to combat it.

Why we get inflamed:

  • Inflammation is a protective mechanism in the body. Let me run through some examples. When we fall and smack our head or any part of the body there is redness, bruising, and swelling. All of these reactions are based on an inflammatory response to protect and repair the areas of the body we injure.
  • When inflammation becomes dangerous is when you're living in a state where your body remains inflamed and healing doesn’t happen.
  • Examples of chronic inflammation can include things like chronic acne and blood pressure issues. When the body loses the ability to process inflammation correctly and over compensates for injuries or stress on the body is when chronic inflammation can occur.
  • We can control the inflammatory process through lifestyle and diet changes which we are going to explore in depth.

Controlling inflammation through diet:

Many of our dietary choices create inflammation in the body. When we eat a diet high in fried foods and bad fats called omega 6s we increase inflammation in the body dramatically.

Omega 6 foods include

  • Grapeseed oil
  • Corn oil
  • Walnuts
  • Peanut butter
  • Pecans
  • Margarine
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Sesame seed oil

  • Anxiety
  • Old injuries
  • Unforgiveness

A lot the lifestyle factors have to deal with what tools we use to deal with the stresses in our body. For me I pray and play music to deal with stresses in my life. I encourage everyone to strengthen their faith. A lot of times the biggest stresses are the things we are most afraid to face. Diet, exercise, and supplements can’t heal us from the stresses of pain that affect us emotionally and spiritually.
