Wisdom

I am writing this blog today in honor of all my friends and family who have passed on wisdom to me over the years. All through my life I have had a helping hand guide me through some really tough times. The Lord has really blessed me over the years to be able to mature quickly and skip some really tough things in life. If you’re a younger person like me I would suggest that you take the same position as I do which is you can always learn. We are taught at a young age to be rebellious thinking that we know everything and don’t need help along the way. I hope that this blog will inspire you to begin to listen to those with scars of life who have walked through many things we never have and we begin to listen to them.

The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom:

This scripture in proverbs chapter 9 verse 10 is always cut short and here is how the whole scripture reads:

The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.

Why is this scripture so important? My generation is so rebellious to authority and leadership we do not reverence those in authority. Why is this?

  • TV
  • Music
  • Cultural influences

These things above feed us with the ideas that rebellion is a normal way of life and that its ok to be fearless in the wrong way.

We need to repent and get back to fearing and reverencing our creator. I say this very humbly as multiple times in my life I found myself challenging God thinking I know better for me own life than he does. This leads me to latter half of the scripture that is so often not quoted.

Knowledge of the Holy one is so important this knowledge will bring insight and understanding into our lives and we could all use more of that.

This knowledge comes from having a relationship with Jesus and reading his word. The word of God can give us so much insight to the whys in life.

Now that I am getting older I want to seek to restore the time lost and find that healing and restoration are coming through the Lords word and spending time with him.

Honoring Our Elders

So let me tell you I bet you are surrounded by those that have walked through some really rough stuff and can offer invaluable insight.

I want to share one of my favorite quotes that will put this into perspective.

" Listen to your elder’s advice, not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong."

I hope that this blog in some way will reach a young person out there who in their current state would never listen to their parents or elders. Let’s get back to the old ways of taking care of and listening to our elders.

Conclusion:

I know this isn’t a huge health topic or anything but this subject was weighing heavy on my heart this morning. I hope that this will inspire you to take steps toward living a more humble life and learn from those around you.
