Type 2 Diabetes

This disease has impacted so many individual because it is directly connected to the food we eat and our daily lifestyle habits. I personally overcame a pre diabetic state. I was highly addicted to sugar and caffeine, which created a terrible breakdown in my body. When I first started my journey towards health, I wanted to begin by detoxifying my body from the crazy amounts of toxins I had been ingesting. I wasn’t very sure how to start this process, but I began by cutting out anything and everything that was white including white flour, white sugar, white potatoes, and white salt. I experienced immediate changes, and was starting to feel great again! I realized that if I could feel these radical changes in only 3 to 6 months, maybe others could benefit as well. I watched a truly inspirational documentary called Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days that helped me realize that type 2 diabetes can be cured. I have to be careful with the word cure, but just wait until you watch the documentary – your opinions may be changed! Let's explore how we can begin to reverse this condition and help lower your blood sugar by making the following lifestyle changes.

Dietary Changes

Lowering the amount of sugar and carbohydrates in the diet

  • You can replace sugar and carbs with more fiber and healthy fats.
  • You can replace sugary drinks and sodas with flavored water using stevia and fresh lemon.
  • You can add in more vitamins and minerals which will add more stability to your blood sugar.

Eating more vegetables

You have to add more vegetables in your diet, in particular, dark green leafs such as lettuce, kale, spinach, and arugula.

Lifestyle Changes

Exercise

  • I suggest you start off with light exercise like walking, jogging, Pilates, and light stretching. These light exercises will help you stabilize blood sugar and burn calories.
  • I suggest you start off slow, as making all these lifestyle changes at once is very stressful. Gradually adding exercise into your daily routine will help you build stronger habits. You don’t need to be pumping iron 24/7!
  • Lifestyle changes and dietary changes can radically change your life.
